This past weekend, and the days leading up to it, was superrr rainy & gloomy, however, we had to get out of the house. Craving brunch, we decided to check out Second Bar + Kitchen downtown for some eggy bites.
I’ve always loved the atmosphere at SBK – the modern textiles and fixtures and huge floor to ceiling windows, give it a well-lit, lively and young vibe.
To start, I had the Shisito Peppers with Miso Aioli and Travis the Pepperoni Soup (or, as he calls it, pizza without the pizza).
For mains, he got the Steak & Eggs. The “eggs” part was actually a HUGE migas fritatta, packed full of Mexican flavor.
I ordered the SBK Benedict which consisted of poached eggs on hashbrown potato cakes topped with a brie based hollandaise. Amazing!
For a bit more protein, I added the House Pork Sausage (ginger & sage).
Shorter and sweeter than our dinner posts, but isn’t that brunch in general? 🙂 Check out what Travis thought here, and listen to us gab about the meal, our election predictions (spoiler: we were WAY wrong) and our opinions on the latest season of AHS in our latest podcast episode.
